Musk Could Give at Least $100M to Republicans, House Speaker Plans Meeting

House Speaker Johnson plans to meet Elon Musk in Texas on Friday, according to people familiar with the matter. Those people caution that Musk's schedule is fluid and that the meeting could be adjusted at the last minute, a sign that the plans are not fully locked in. The sit-down comes as Johnson campaigns for Republican candidates across the state ahead of the midterms, and is the latest sign that Republican leaders want the tech billionaire to put substantial money behind their effort to keep control of Congress. Musk is reportedly considering giving at least $100 million to Republican efforts for this year's midterm elections through his super PAC, Americapac. Where the money would ultimately go remains unclear, the people said. Two of the people familiar with the matter said some Republicans believe Musk is weighing whether to direct part of the funds into competitive House battleground districts where the GOP is defending seats. The plans were reported by Politico.
